There are very few people who could honestly say that their garden is perfect.
A weed here or a deformed plant there can spoil any garden.
Making your garden look its best and giving it the best chance to shine isn't really to difficult if you have the right frame of mind and follow a few simple rules.
Follow these seven simple tips and you will have your garden looking its best in no time at all.
1.
Take a step back and observe your garden from a distance.
Many a time people focus on close up details but if your garden has the wrong layout then you are fighting a losing battle.
Lack of planning and rushing your planting can lead to a badly designed garden.
Take a step back and look at the structure of your garden.
Do the colors look right together? Is the border the right width? 2.
Add something different to your garden to give it the edge.
A sculpture or a water feature is two examples of something that other gardeners probably won't put the effort in to create.
3.
Variety is the spice of life and a little variety will definitely give your garden a good look.
Too many flowers will make your lawn look small but too much grass will make your garden look sparse.
It is sometimes difficult to get the balance just right.
A good thing to do when you are starting out is to search on the internet and simply copy someone else's design that is pleasing to your eye.
4.
Pruning is an essential part of maintaining bushes in your garden but remember that you need to leave some for the plant to survive.
Although some hardy bushes will tolerate being pruned down to almost nothing, you should really never prune a bush to within an inch of its life.
5.
Building an oven or a barbecue in your garden will give you a great excuse to show your garden off to as many people as possible.
It will be hard for them not to ask questions when they are sat looking at something so wonderful.
It doesn't have to be a brick oven you can buy ovens that you roll out when you need them.
6.
Garden maintenance can be hard work but if you spread it out you will hardly notice all those hours that you spend weeding and pruning and planting.
There is no doubt about it, maintaining a nice garden involves work but arduous and boring tasks like weeding can be spread over the week.
A little each night will do the trick.
7.
Filling your garden borders with plants will leave less room for weeds.
Some plants need more space than others but if you have enough plants in your garden to suffocate the weeds and to suck up all the nutrients you may find that you never need to weed the soil.
The trick is to fill every space but not have your plants fighting for space.
Follow the tips above but the number one tip is to enjoy what you are doing.
Don't spend every hour working on your garden or you won't have time to enjoy it.
