How to Deodorize & Disinfect Foam Mattress Pads
- 1). Vacuum the mattress pad with an upholstery attachment to remove any loose dirt, hair or other materials before cleaning.
- 2). Put the mattress pad in a bathtub. If you don’t have access to a big enough bathtub, try placing it on a patio table, tarp or other clean surface outside, making sure you can reach it with a hose.
- 3). Mix liquid detergent with water in a spray bottle. Use approximately 1 part detergent to 2 parts water.
- 4). Spray the mattress pad on both sides. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes.
- 5). Rinse pad thoroughly with clean water. After soaking the pad, press it down to squeeze water out. Do not wring out the pad, as it may tear or become misshapen.
- 6). Mix 1 part white vinegar with 4 parts water in a spray bottle. Spray the mattress pad again.
- 7). Rinse the mattress pad with clean water. Press the pad all over to eliminate as much water as you can.
- 8). Let the pad dry. A hair dryer, fan or sunlight can assist in drying. Replace the mattress pad on the bed when it is completely dry.
