- 1). Measure each side of the large triangular window. Double your measurement. This is the length of your fabric. Measure to the center of your window from each point, take the longest measurement and add 6 inches. This is the width of your fabric.
- 2). Launder your fabric before cutting. Seam your fabric together to achieve the length you need, and match patterns if you are using a patterned fabric. Measure and cut your fabric.
- 3). Fold your fabric edges under 1/4 inch and then fold the fold under another 1/4 inch, and use a hemming stitch all around the fabric. Fold your top edge down 1 inch and sew a seam. Center a cord in the 1-inch top hem on the back side of the fabric. Use your widest setting of zig-zag stitch on your sewing machine and sew over the cord. Knot the cord on one end so it won't pull through. Pull the cord and slide the fabric to gather to your finished length. Knot your cord.
- 4). Pin and sew the fuzzy (loop) side of hook and loop tape to the evenly spaced gather along the top and back of the window treatment. Press the hook side of the tape to the underside of your window casing. Staple over the hook tape every 4 to 6 inches for additional security. (Use epoxy glue at metal windows to improve the adhesion of the hook tape.)
- 5). Press the hook and loop tape together all the way around the window. Gather the fabric evenly to the center of the window and tie with a zip-tie. Zip ties are plastic ties used to tie wires. They can be purchased at home improvement stores. Find the center of the fabric and shape it over the first zip tie. Use a second zip tie to hold the fabric. This will create a simple rosette that you can cut with scissors when you want to launder the window treatment.
