    Shape

    • Create an invitation that is cut into a shape--a teddy bear, a baby bottle, a cradle. Use cardboard for a template. Pick card stock in blue or pink, if desired, or another color if the baby's gender is unknown. Or use decorative paper available at craft stores.

    Wording

    • Greet your guest with a cute saying that shows you are excited about the new baby who's on the way. If you know the baby's gender, use pink or blue lettering. If the expectant mother has chosen a name for the baby, you can put the name in decorative letters on the front of the invitation. Be sure to include the location, date and time of the party.

    Picture

    • Add an interesting picture to your invitation. Glue on pictures of a stork, a baby carriage or baby booties. Check websites or craft stores for illustrations. If you have a printed picture of the baby's sonogram, you can even add a copy of this. Create a cute border using decorative paper and place a caption on the picture. The caption next to the sonogram can say something like "I'm ready to get out of here."

    Gift Registry

    • Include the name and location of the mother's gift registry on the invitation. You can print pictures from the Internet of the items in the registry and paste them to the invitations.
