How to Season a Fry Basket
- 1). Wash your fry basket with a non-abrasive sponge, dish soap and water. Dry it thoroughly with a clean towel. If you don't dry it completely, you run the risk of oil splattering when the water comes in contact with hot oil.
- 2). Unplug your fryer from the electrical outlet. Fill your fryer with oil. The oil level should be between the minimum and maximum oil level lines on your fryer. Use canola, vegetable or corn oil for this.
- 3). Position your fry basket into the fryer and secure it in place. Turn the fryer on and allow the oil to heat to 350 to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. After the oil has reached its optimum cooking temperature, raise the fry basket out of the oil and allow it to cool.
- 4). Lower the basket into the hot oil a second time. After a few minutes, raise the basket again. The basket is now seasoned and ready to use for frying food.
