In society some people are suffering from physical diablities because of some birth problems or because of the after effects of some accidents or diseases. Social anxiety disorder is one of the most common anxiety disorders, affecting between 7 and 13% of the population. Social anxiety disorder also known as social phobia is an anxiety disorder which is one of the most common psychiatric disorders. It is characterized by intense fear in social situations, causing considerable distress and impaired ability to function in daily life.

People with social phobia are afraid of doing common things in front of other people. They are very concerned that they will do something embarrassing or humiliating, or that others will think badly of them. For example, they might be afraid to sign a check in front of a cashier at the grocery store, or they might be afraid to eat or drink in front of other people, or use a public restroom. For some people, social phobia is a problem only in certain situations, while others show symptoms in almost any social situation.

ANXIETY SYMPTOMS

Physical symptoms of social anxiety disorder include excessive blushing, sweating, trembling, palpitations and nausea. Stammering may be present, along with rapid speech. Panic attacks can also occur under intense fear and discomfort. Social phobia is a strong fear of being judged by others and of being embarrassed. This fear can be so strong that it gets active in day to day functions making it difficult to perform in office or in school.

ANXIETY TREATMENTS

An early diagnosis may help to minimize the symptoms and the development of additional problems, such as depression. It is common for sufferers of social phobia to self-medicate, especially if they are undiagnosed, untreated, or both; this can lead to alcoholism. Social phobia usually starts during youth. Without treatment, social phobia can last for many years or for the lifetime.

Social anxiety disorder is often found in conjunction with other anxiety disorders. The best and only way to treat social anxiety disorder is by getting help from a professional. Therapy and medication can help you to ease this disorder so that you can live a healthy and socially active life. Cognitive-behavioral therapy will help you to grip your disorder so that you can learn how to make yourself calm down and have less fear in social situations.
