The hearing loss does not discriminate!

Reduction in hearing can occur in every person regardless of race, gender or age. It is estimated that globally 10% of the population shows some form of hearing loss, and many millions of children of school age have hearing loss that may influence the development of speech and education.
The decrease in hearing may be temporary or permanent, low or severe. Fortunately, in most cases, there are many solutions to improve the acoustics of individual weakness. For many, getting a hearing aid is the first step in re-hearing and the person's reintegration into the community.

Warning Signs for the Reduction Hearing

- Increase the volume on the TV or radio
- Difficulty in monitoring discussions, especially when there is background noise
- Frequent calls to the respondents to repeat what they said
- Difficult to communicate on the phone
- Feeling that the interlocutors 'chew' their words
- Difficulty hearing certain sounds or frequencies
- Agreement (shaking the head) in discussions that you are not sure what has been said
- Monitoring the lips of respondents to understand what they say (lip reading)

What is the hearing aid

The hearing aid is a tiny system to restore hearing aid with audio spectrum. Each device is individually designed and configured to the needs of each condition. This is required because every case is unique and individual needs vary.

What a hearing aid can do?

- To strengthen the sounds to the required level needed by disadvantaged frequencies
- To provide clarity in his speech in most circumstances
- To help you better hear certain frequencies, such as in high frequency (s, t, f,k, and th)
- To weaken (in many cases) the intensity of tinnitus
- To slow or stop the continuing loss of hearing
- To allow you to become active members of society (family, friends, work, entertainment)

What a hearing aid can't do

- To give you back all of the normal hearing
- To give you the ability to hear speech perfectly with the presence of other environmental sounds
- To convert garbled sounds to pure sound
- To allow you to hear only that you want

Types

The hearing aids can be categorized into several categories. The simplest categorization is based on their size and application method. There are two main groups:
The In The Ear (ITE) and Behind The Ear (BTE)
In both types of hearing aids, we must take the imprint of the ear canal to ensure a perfect fit to prevent whistling. Sometimes a In The Ear hearind aid may look better than a Behind The Ear but the choice of the type of hearind aid depends purely on the age, type and degree of hearing loss. Also depends from the places and participation social events that user attends.

Characteristics of modern hearing aids

The development of digital technology as in every other field creates amazing innovations and in hearing aids. The result is that digital techonology is much better from analog (obsolete) and differs to:

- Smaller size (invissible solutions)
- Better sound quality with greater sharpness and better discrimination. Isolation of annoying noise, no hissing
- A fully waterproof hearing aids for pediatric solutions, athletes, strenuous activitiesEUR Precision adjustment for improvement in specific frequencies, such as in high frequency (s, t, f,k, and th)
- Choice from 2 to 20 digital channels
- Ability to choose different settings (programs) depending on the location, the user (indoor, outdoor, television, etc.)
- Possibility of remote control and connection (Bluetooth) with different audio sources such as TV, radio, mobile

Monoaural or Binaural fitting?

When there is hearing loss in both ears the correct treatment is achieved by applying two same type hearing aids. The binaural solution is recommended for many years and is the normal procedure in the European Union. The binaural solution gives better results for the following reasons:

- Provides the ability to perceive correctly the direction of the sound (often a user with monoaural fitting hears a sound from a car from the wrong side)
- There is a further improvement in speech discrimination in quiet and in noisy environments.
- We can lower volume adjustment of each ear "softer tone"

In cases of childhood hearing loss always apply two hearing aids for all these reasons and also because there is a possibility, faster, more qualitative development of speech and language and better adapt to the environment. What you should know before buy a hearing aid?First of all we should do good market research. Talk to experts in hearing aids, if a device would be a great help to our case. If so, we determine together what aesthetic form and what technology is best suited for us, it is necessary to look quite the provided solutions. We ask for the types and technologies of hearing aids and ask that you give us written information and technical characteristics. Also very important is the scientific background of the visited centers, the guarantee each company giving and the existence of certification from EKAPTY (National Centre for Quality Assessment in Health Technology & SA) former EKEVYL.Big advantage is the free trial of the hearing aids for a period. At our appointment for selecting hearing aid always have a relative or friend with us. Because we receive a lot of information gathered is useful to have a second person who can judge and discuss with us the differences he saw in us during the tests-visits.Always arrive at scheduled appointments we will re-test required for the proper monitoring of our adaptation. Not lose contact with the hearing specialist during the initial application and adaptation.
