How to Get Rid of Spots and Acne

103 9
Acne and spots affect most teenagers and a significant number of adults as well.
They are caused hair follicles (pores) becoming blocked by sebum oil and dead skin cells.
The result of this blockage is a build up of bacteria that leads to infection.
The body's natural response is to push the infection out through the pore and this leads to spots and acne.
Things such as lifestyle, hormones, stress levels and diet all play a role in the cause and prevention of acne.
Lifestyle can play an important role in the development of spots and acne.
The skin is the largest organ on your body and it wont be healthy unless you are healthy.
Regular exercise, plenty of fresh air and enough sleep will have a positive effect on your skin.
Hormones, especially for women and teenagers, can lead to outbreaks of acne.
Recent studies have shown that 50% of women get acne or spots during the week before their period.
Birth control pills and other medication help regulate hormones and can be used in the treatment of acne.
Stress plays a role in the development of spots and acne.
Stress comes in two forms: Internal or External.
Internal stress comes from anxiety, depression, low self esteem.
It is important to switch off from your problems and relax to allow your body de-stress.
You can do this by making sure you get a good night's sleep.
It may also be beneficial to talk to someone about the causes of your stress or even try meditation.
External stresses come from factors such as too much exposure to the sun, an oily or greasy working environment (kitchens, garages etc) or somewhere that is dusty or has a lot of chemicals that will irritate and clog the pores.
It is important to make sure you get the right vitamins and minerals.
Vitamins A, B & C all play vital roles in producing healthy skin.
They repair damaged skin and act as anti-inflammatories when the skin is infected.
You can get these vitamins from fruit and vegetables, nuts or multivitamins.
