How to create a professional looking auction template

Instructions

1

Visit an auction template generation site such as Seller Sourcebook, Rob's Help or Auctiva. Some sites provide free auction template generation, while others require a one-time fee or subscription fee.
2

Choose the background color for your auction template. A neutral background color, such as light grey, tan or light blue, helps your auction listings stand out without distracting the reader.
3

Allot a space at the top of your auction template for an image of your product. An image shows the viewer what he is bidding on and generates interest in your product.
4

Devote a single column below the main image to a text description of your product. Multiple columns can be confusing to the reader -- if a viewer cannot quickly find the information she needs about your product, she will quickly leave and find a similar product offered by another seller. Also, use black text in a white box for easy reading -- colored fonts and text backgrounds can make descriptions difficult to read.
5

State the terms and conditions of your auction below the description. In most cases, terms and conditions related to payment, shipping and refunds will be identical for each listing, so including this information in the template can help save you time when creating your listings.
6

Devote space below your text description for additional images of your product. If your auction template allows, opt for thumbnails for your secondary images to help minimize the visual length of your listing.
