Anxiety and Panic Attacks - Attack the Panic, Beat Anxiety

103 15
Panic attacks seem to be the scariest and most feared aspect of anxiety.
The sensations experienced during the attack usually always seem unprovoked.
The fear of not having control over your own body and thoughts leaves anxiety sufferers feeling helpless and alone.
It is hard to describe panic disorder to someone that has never experienced it.
Unfortunately it just seems easier to put on a happy face and pretend you feel fine instead of risking that someone might think you are crazy or insane.
The first panic attack usually leaves you wondering when the next will occur.
Most times, during your first attack, you don not even understand that what you are experiencing is anxiety related.
You may feel you are aware of anxiety and have heard about panic attacks, but have a hard time believing that others are experiencing exactly what you are.
You may feel you are having a heart attack or are starting to descend into absolute insanity.
These episodes are often so intense and far too frequent that you feel there is nothing you can do to change them.
You might find yourself staying away from places and situations that can cause you the most embarrassment.
The biggest challenge in beating the anxiety and stopping the attacks is finding what actually causes it.
Loved ones are great at helping you through your toughest times, but can not always relate to what you are experiencing.
Many suggest you reduce stress in your life and go read a book, take a vacation or start a hobby.
These are great ways to alleviate stress but you can have a panic attack sunning on the white sands of the Caribbean; that is why facing your anxiety head on seems to be the most effective way to reduce the attacks, control their severity and end them completely.
Simply gaining understanding of your anxiety is probably the most powerful weapon against it.
Trying to ignore it and keeping your mind off of the anxiety does not address the anxiety.
If you just rely on hope that another attack will not happen, you are left feeling hopeless when it does.
Arming yourself with the knowledge that attacks can only occur as long you fear them will put you on your way to complete recovery.
It took many sleepless nights and wasted days for me to learn to stare panic in the face and dare it to try.
If you are struggling with feelings of hopelessness and despair or are feeling absolutely terrified of what you are going through, please know you are not alone.
Continue to gain knowledge and know that for the panic to stop attacking you, you must attack the panic.
You CAN stop panic attacks and beat anxiety!
