How to Make Quick Biscuits From Scratch
- 1). Turn your oven to 450 F.
- 2). Melt 8 tbsp. salted butter in the microwave or on the stovetop. Allow it to cool a bit while you prepare the rest of the biscuit ingredients.
- 3). Mix the flour with baking powder, sugar, baking soda and salt in a medium-sized mixing bowl.
- 4). Measure 1 cup of cold buttermilk into a small mixing bowl. Pour the melted butter into the buttermilk and stir with a fork. Small butter globules will form in the mixture; this is desirable as they will help make the biscuits light and fluffy.
- 5). Pour the buttermilk/butter mixture into the dry ingredients and stir just until all ingredients are blended.
- 6). Lightly spray the inside of the measuring cup with cooking spray. This will help release each biscuit onto the baking sheet.
- 7). Scoop just under 1/4 cup of biscuit dough into the measuring cup. Hold the cup over the ungreased baking sheet and turn it over gently, but firmly, to place the biscuit onto the sheet. Leave at least 1 inch between each biscuit.
- 8). Place the baking sheet into the oven. Set your kitchen timer to 14 minutes.
- 9). Check the biscuits when the timer sounds. If their tops are golden brown, remove them from the oven. If not, set the timer for 2-minute increments, checking each time to see if they are done.

Melt the remaining 2 tbsp. of butter and brush it over the cooked biscuits. Remove the biscuits from the baking sheet with a spatula, and allow them to cool.
