How to Make a Concha
- 1). Place the yeast in a bowl with the warm water. When it has dissolved completely, add the milk, sugar, butter, salt, egg and 2 cups of the flour.
- 2). Beat all the ingredients together until the mixture is smooth. Add the remaining flour.
- 3). Lightly sprinkle flour on a surface. Place the dough on the surface and knead for 5 minutes, ensuring that the dough becomes smooth and pliable.
- 4). Rub cooking grease around the interior of a bowl and place the dough within. Turn the dough so that the side with the grease faces upward.
- 5). Cover the bowl and leave the dough to rise for about 1 1/2 hours, by which time it should have doubled in size. Gently press the dough to see if an indentation remains. This indicates that the dough is ready for making into bread.
- 6). Grease the cookie sheet. Press the dough down on the surface and split it into 12 pieces at about 3 inches across. Roll each in your hands to make a ball and place on the cookie sheet.
- 1). Mix the sugar and margarine together in a bowl. Beat the ingredients until the mixture is light and fluffy.
- 2). Add the flour and mix until you have formed a thick paste. Separate and place the mixture into three different bowls. Add the vanilla extract to one bowl, cinnamon to another and orange peel to the last bowl.
- 3). Spoon one topping on to the top of each ball of dough. Mark a shell shape on the balls using the knife.
- 4). Cover the balls and leave to rise for about 40 minutes. They should double in size. Place in a preheated oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit and bake for 20 minutes.
