Water! How Much to Drink?
When people try certain brands of alkaline, ionized water for the first time, they notice how light and sweet it is.
Other brands are not so pleasant to drink and it makes drinking them much more difficult.
When you find the light, almost sweet alkaline, ionized water, people start asking how much they should drink.
It seems like the standard answer is to drink eight 10 ounce glasses of water every day.
We are all built differently, so the big question is "Is that enough for your individual body requirements to maintain optimum health?" Statistics show that over 70 percent of the population is dehydrated enough to affect their health in some way.
Some of those people probably drink 8 glasses of water every day, although they don't drink alkaline, ionized water.
They probably drink tap or bottled water, both of which, can be acidic or out of balance for their body type.
If you work in a landscaping business, you require more water than someone sitting in an air conditioned office.
So how do you calculate how much water you need? You shouldn't drink only when you feel thirsty.
Holistic health practitioners agree that thirst is probably the worst indicator of whether your body needs water or not.
When you feel thirsty, you are actually in a mild state of dehydration.
If you lose 2 percent of your overall water volume, you get short term memory loss, fuzzy thinking, mental confusion, false hunger pangs, and a whole host of symptoms that most people think of as normal.
You actually lose 2 to 3 liters of water every day just to keep your body running.
If it doesn't have enough, it starts to ration it, making sure vital activities are supplied.
You need to replace lost water or your body becomes more acidic.
Your oxygen levels in the cells can drop, too, making you fell tired and sluggish.
If you're active, you need to drink more.
"Hey, I'll just drink more coffee!" I hear people saying this all the time.
They assume anything liquid, like coffee, sodas, fruit juice, tea and other bottled drinks are a great water substitute.
Every liquid counts, right? Wrong.
All of those beverages are acid forming in the body and a lot of them contain caffeine and sugar.
Instead of replacing lost fluids with healthy water, the sugar turbo-ages the body and caffeine acting as a mild diuretic, dehydrates it.
Caffeine encourages the body to release more water, sending it to the kidneys and bladder.
Now you need more water to make up the deficit.
If you are fortunate enough to have bought an alkaline water ionizer, you will want to maximize your hydration.
You will want to drink half your body weight in ounces of alkaline, ionized water every day.
If you exercise, you will need to add more.
For example, you should drink 12 ounces of water just before your workout.
Then you sip water throughout your workout and drink another 12 ounces of water at the conclusion of your workout, on top of the 50 ounces that you would consume if you weigh 100 pounds.
If you are not accustomed to drinking lots of water, start slowly, adding a few more ounces each day until you have reached your own natural hydration level.
When you first start drinking ionized water, you will notice how thirsty you are.
Your thirst mechanism has turned back on and the first day or so, you won't pee very much.
This is because the ionizer breaks the water clusters into smaller bunches and they are more easily absorbed by the body.
Your cells are soaking up this healthy water like a sponge and there is no excess to get rid of.
Before, it was probably more like water in-water out.
Alkaline, ionized water is very efficient at hydrating your body and to help rid your body of harmful acids and free radicals.
Your body will begin to flush all of the by-products from your body and you will feel like you are on top of the world.
Better that, than feeling miserable and fatigued.
