It is important to understand what a yeast infection is and where yeast comes from in order to be able to cure it and avoid future infections.

  1. Yeast thrives in an environment that is exactly like the vagina, dark and moist.
    With that said, it is advised to reduce moisture in vaginal area.
    For starters, wear only cotton underwear as cotton allows the area to breathe more.
    All other man-made fabrics encourage yeast by trapping moisture.
  2. Certain foods such as sugar, refined foods and yeast feed yeast and therefore should be either avoided or reduced.
  3. Avoid douching or at least limit douching to about once a month as the natural balance of bacteria is upset, hence resulting in a yeast infection.
    Feminine deodorants are also known to irritate the vaginal area.
    Even though you may be feeling self-conscious of the older associated with the yeast infection of avoid feminine deodorants at all costs, especially during the infection.
  4. Wear looser clothes, especially pants where the crotch rubs against the vaginal area where don't let can increase the chance of irritation, which can eventually lead to a yeast infection.
    Never stay in a wet bathing suit or other wet clothes for a prolonged period of time.
    The wet environment promotes yeast growth.
    Do not wear stockings as the man-made fabrics encourage yeast as well.
