Tano Checks In

"Let me begin by introducing myself. My name is Tano and I am a So.Fla. skinny water fisherman. I've been here in Miami for 20 years and I've fished every single one of them! I've got a lot of fishing anecdotes but the one that really sticks didn't happen here in Florida but in NJ, where I lived before transplanting myself to Florida.

The story begins with my friend Tommy, his son and myself fishing for carp in the Passaic river. We had 3 lines out and the rods were leaning on these little y shaped branches we had broken off a nearby tree. Tommy's reel had a problem and he got really frustrated and from one moment to the next was so enraged that he flung the outfit into the river. We were in disbelief but thought it was hysterical. Tommy on the other hand didn't think it was all that funny once he had a little while to think of what he had just done. Oh well, what was he going to do?

Well nobody had too much time to answer this question due to the fact that I got a monstrous hit on my rod, which went flying into the drink following Tommy's rod as if to keep it company or something! Man what a bummer! But without thinking I dove into the river and started to feel around but decided to cut it short due to the water temperature and the fact that the bottom was mucky and nasty.

When I got out I realized that I had left my wallet in my back pocket to top things off!

Wow what a day! Well before leaving I got the bright idea to tie a treble hook to the only surviving rod and proceeded to drag the bottom and see if I couldn't recover my rod. To end the story (which by the way is 100% true) I felt something on the end of the line which I was dragging across the bottom. To our amazement not only did I hook the line of my rod, which had been under for 10 minutes or so, but I also got Tommy's rod! It seems the lines had tangled somehow when the fish ran off with my rod. Oh by the way, on the end of my line was attached (still) the carp which had saved the day and everyone's fishing poles!!! Believe it or not this is a true story. Thank you for letting me share it with you."
