How to Make a Pop Up Note on Your Laptop

    Stickies

    • 1). Visit the Zhornsoftware "Stickies" web page at Zhronsoftware.co.uk/stickies.

    • 2). Click the "Download" button on the left-hand side of the screen.

    • 3). Scroll down the page and click the "Download Stickies" button.

    • 4). Press the "Save File" button when the window pops up. Double click the downloaded file and follow the prompts to install the software.

    • 5). Check your system tray at the bottom right-corner of your screen. The "Stickies" program looks like a yellow pad of notes.

    • 6). Double click the "Stickies" icon in your system tray. This brings up a small yellow text box to the front of your windows, or on your desktop if you are not browsing the internet.

    • 7). Right click the gray bar at the top of the note to bring up the options. Select the "On Top" option to lock your sticky note into place. This will cause your sticky note to stay in the foreground, even when you are using other applications.

    • 8). Click the yellow part of the note and write the message that you want to pop up. As long as you don't click the "X" in the right corner of the sticky note, the note will continue to pop up every time you turn on your computer.

    3M Post-It Software

    • 1). Download the 3M Post-It trial software from CNET or the download site of your choice (link in resources).

    • 2). Extract the file and open the program.

    • 3). Click on the pad of Post-It notes in the left hand corner to place a Post-It on your desktop.Clicking the note will allow you to type a message. The program also offers alarms and other reminders. One catch, this is a trial version. You can only use it for 30 days without purchasing it.

    Power Soft Freebie Notes

    • 1). Download "Freebie Notes" from the Power Soft website (link in resources).

    • 2). Install the program. A small toolbar will appear in the forefront of your desktop in the right-hand corner.

    • 3). Press the note icon on the far left of the "Freebie Note" toolbar. Write your note and press "OK." Your message will appear in note form on your desktop.
