- 1). Click the "iChat" icon on the dock at the bottom of your screen to open iChat.
- 2). Click the "iChat" menu on the panel at the top of the screen and click "Preferences."
- 3). Click the "Accounts" icon at the top of the "Preferences" window.
- 4). Click the "+" button at the bottom of the list of accounts to add a new account.
- 5). Click the "Account Type" box and click "Jabber Account" in the list.
- 6). Type your Google email address in the form of "name@gmail.com" into the Jabber ID box. If you're using Google Apps, type your full email address in the form of "name@your_domain.com" into the box.
- 7). Type your Google account's password into the "Password" box.
- 8). Type "talk.google.com" into the "Server" box.

Click your Google Talk account in the list of accounts to select it. - 11
Click the "Server Settings" tab. - 12
Type "5223" into the "Port" box. - 13
Click to check the "Connect Using SSL" and "Enable Self-signed SSL Certificates" boxes to enable those options. - 14
Type a name for the connection such as "iChat" into the "Location" box. - 15
Close the "Accounts" window.
