- 1). Arrange your underwater centerpiece in the vase or container on-site, before adding water. Moving around the centerpiece and water will agitate air into the mixture, creating more bubbles, so it's important to wait until you're at the party site to create the centerpiece. Make sure all of the items going inside are clean so they don't leave any dust or dirt floating around. Secure the decorations to the bottom of the vase using weights or burying them in stones or pebbles.
- 2). Buy distilled water to fill the centerpiece. Regular tap water is filled with impurities and air bubbles that will bubble in your vase. Distilled water has been treated to eliminate any pollutants, chemicals and contaminants in the water, making it less likely to bubble. It will also keep the flowers from floating as much and prevent clouding.
- 3). Slowly fill the vase with distilled water. Pouring the water in the vase will create agitation and bubbles, so be as gentle as possible when pouring. Tip the vase to its side and trickle the water down the side of the container. Patience in pouring will prevent bubbles from forming.
- 4). Use a spoon or stick to gently swirl the water in the vase and release any air bubbles that are trapped or hidden inside the decorations or under the rocks. Lightly tap the decorations, being careful not to knock them loose. Do not agitate the water so much that it brings more air into the liquid, which will cause more bubbles.
