Hamas Increase Its Attacks on Israel
* They shot an anti-tank missile on a school bus.
* And shot 45 mortal shells and rockets
Since the beginning of the year, Hamas and the Islamic Jihad have increase the number and the intensity of their attacks on Israel.
The reasons why Hamas has rejected any possibility of peace between Hamas and Israel is easy to understand. One just have to look at its charter. For instance:
* Article 6: The Islamic Resistance Movement is a distinct Palestinian Movement which owes its loyalty to Allah, derives from Islam its way of life and strives to raise the banner of Allah over every inch of Palestine.
* Article 7: the Hamas has been looking forward to implement Allah's promise whatever time it might take. The prophet, prayer and peace be upon him, said: The time will not come until Muslims will fight the Jews (and kill them); until the Jews hide behind rocks and trees, which will cry: O Muslim! there is a Jew hiding behind me, come on and kill him! This will not apply to the Gharqad, which is a Jewish tree (cited by Bukhari and Muslim).
* Article 11: The Islamic Resistance Movement believes that the land of Palestine has been an Islamic Waqf throughout the generations and until the Day of Resurrection, no one can renounce it or part of it, or abandon it or part of it.
* Article 13: [Peace] initiatives, the so-called peaceful solutions, and the international conferences to resolve the Palestinian problem, are all contrary to the beliefs of the Islamic Resistance Movement.
* The articles 28: Israel, by virtue of its being Jewish and of having a Jewish population, defies Islam and the Muslims.
Hamas rejects peace with Israel because its goals are to destroy Israel and exterminate the Jews.
But this doesn't answer to the current question: Why does Hamas increase its attack on Israel now? The main reason can be found in the changes in the Middle East. More exactly the change in Egypt.
Mubarak saw the Muslim Brotherhood and it's Palestinian Branch, Hamas, as a danger. He kept the frontier with Gaza closed and during all its reign respected the peace with Israel.
The Egyptian Revolution changed this situation:
* The Muslim Brotherhood is one of the main party in Egypt and is likely to gain a lot of strength during the coming election
* Since the majority of the Egyptian (92% in 2006) see Israel as an enemy nation, none can assume that in a democratic Egypt, the peace with Israel will be respected.
* Many Egyptians and Egyptian parties want to open the border between Egypt and Gaza.
This new Egypt open new possibilities to Hamas: by attacking Israel and forcing Israel to respond, Hamas increases the chances that Egypt will open its border with Gaza, and the chances to turn the cold peace between Egypt and Israel to a cold war.
At this point it is possible to conclude that the attacks from Gaza on Israel will become more violent, until Egypt position is clear.
