Top Things That Ruin the Design of 3D Trophies

3D trophies make excellent awards for a variety of purposes, especially when you want the recipients to feel the depth of their achievements. They also offer the ability to integrate custom designs into lifelike images encased in solid glass or acrylic, depending on your choice of material.

The problem, however, is that many people fail to make the most of the three-dimensional aspects of these 3D trophies. This is especially true if they mess up in the very first step of the whole process - the design.

So without further ado, here are some of the most common design problems that can ruin an otherwise delicate, meaningful and awe-inspiring piece.

Generic

What winner would want to receive an award only to find out someone else (or many people) has the exact same award, just with different words? If you truly want your pieces to mean something special to the recipient, you need to create a design that is exclusively yours. The customization of 3D trophies makes this task a whole lot easier, so don't be afraid to insist on a design that the recipient will know is unique and €worthy' of the effort required to achieve it.

Irrelevance

Speaking of customization, make sure that every element of the trophy's design has a deeper meaning that the recipient will take to heart. You may have the most unique and awe-inspiring design on your hands, but it will be worthless if the recipient cannot €connect' with the message of the piece. Simply put, make sure it has some sort of symbolism that will connect it to the event it was meant for - someone making a slam dunk, a bat and a baseball, a dancing couple, an open book etc.

Cluttered

It can be very easy to get carried away when planning the design of your 3D trophies, with the freedom to insert any number of elements as you see fit. It is, however, vital that the design is crystal-clear (no pun intended). Having too many design elements competing for attention will only make the piece look cluttered and confusing - destroying the €harmony'. You will know your design is overdone if people have difficulty understanding what it is all about in the first place.

Forced

If you are working with a professional designer, give them a little leeway to work their unique brand of art into your finished piece. Micromanaging every single detail is fine if you actually design the image yourself, but it can also choke the creative talents of the designers you work with. Simply lay out what you have in mind, agree on a design and let them do their work. This not only allows them to concentrate on the task at hand without you breathing down their necks, but it will also free you up to focus on other tasks.

Keep these gems of wisdom in mind and you will be much more likely to come up with a piece that is appealing and deeply meaningful to the recipient.
