How to Install Rockwerx Rock Panels
- 1). Lay out the RockWerx plywood panels against the wall that will be transformed into a climbing wall. Hold the panels up against the wall to gain an understanding of the design and layout of the project.
- 2). Measure and mark a 24-by-24-inch grid on the wall with a chalk snap line and tape measure. Every 4-by-8-foot panel is designed to be bolted to the wall every 24 inches.
- 3). Drill holes in the wall on the grid lines' intersections with a hammer drill. When mounting to a concrete block wall, make sure anchors are drilled into mortar joints and not into the cinder block face. The block face can fracture because the blocks are hollow. Adjust the drilling point as needed to drill into the mortar joints of the wall.
- 4). Insert lag shields into the holes in a masonry block wall.
- 5). Drill matching holes on the climbing wall, through the plywood and all they way through the front surface of the wall. These holes must match the wall anchors to bolt the panel to the wall.
- 6). Bolt the wall panels to the wall using the smooth-surface Allen screw bolts supplied by the manufacturer. The panels are made to interlock to eliminate the appearance of seams when installed. Start the bolts but keep all the bolts loose so the panel can be nudged and positioned properly with the panel next to it. Once two panels are positioned, tighten the bolts and move to the next panel. Stand on a stepladder to reach the bolts on the top of the wall panel.
