Background:Low Back pain(LBP) is a common complaint that patients visit  the doctor. This is the cause of disability in people's lives. Disorders of the spinal cord is the major cause of  LBP. Essential component of the Spine is the disc  between  the vertebrae which plays an important role in the strength and flexibility of the spine . Any disease that occurs in the inter-vertebral disc is called discopathy. Given the dominant role of the hamstring muscles in motion rhythm of lumbopelvic this study was designed to examine the relationship between the length of the hamstring muscles and incidence of discopathy. According to the findings of an association between shorting of hamstring muscles and  discopathy also morbidity rates of daily functioning as measured. To examine the relationship between hamstring muscle extensibility by use of instrumented straight leg raise: mechanical compenents of muscle contraction including muscle recruiment, passive measures of tissuestiffness, and eccentric strenght, and self-reported measures of pain and disability.

Methods: This descriptive study on 100 patients who were referred to Tabriz Shohada Hospital Clinic of Neurosurgery was conducted. In the beginning, check List of disability was marked by patient, then Clinical examination was performed by a back surgeon and the angle of the knee when the patient is lying on his back and his feet without bending the knees brought up by cache line roller bearing was measured. All data were recorded for each patient.

setting : shohada hospitle of tabriz

Results:A total of 100 subjects, including 57 (57%) men and 43 (43%) women were studied, Between the shorting of  hamstring muscles and the incidence of discopathy no significant relationship exists (Medium size of angle: 172/27, significance level of the t- test: 0.708). there is a significant relationship between the shorting of  hamstring muscles and severity of disability from back pain, This means that the more degree of  shortening of  hamstring muscles will increase the severity of the disability (ANOVA significance level: 0.011, Pearson:0.329). There is no significant relationship between the shorting of  hamstring muscles and intensity of discopathy (significant ANOVA0: .088).Decreased extensibility of the hamstrings was associated with increased passivestiffnessduringthecommonrangeofmotion(20to50°)

Conclusion: The findings of this study, there are no relationship between the occurrence of short hamstring and lumbar discopathy, however, in patients with lumbar discopathy short hamstring muscles are simultaneously more severe symptoms and greater disability in daily activities suffer . thus effectively increasing hamstring stretching exercises can be performed in patients in whom reduced the severity of symptoms and degree of disability. Further studies are recommended.
