The Truth Behind Before and After Cosmetic Facelift Surgery Photos

Facelift before and after shots do not tell the whole story.
When most people are thinking about having a facelift, they look for before and after photos.
But how much can you really trust what you see? Not much.
Some before and after shots are touched up by digital photo editing means, or taken using misleading lighting and angles.
Make-up techniques are also used to disguise the unnatural look that some facelift procedures cause.
So, when you look at these photos - be critical, and make sure to also get other important information.
Many patients are convinced to choose a certain surgeon over another after viewing the before and after photos of the surgeons' work.
Although it is wise to ask to see such a portfolio, it is also a good idea to ask to speak to a former patient, so you can get a first-hand report of the experience, as well as inspect the results of the procedure for yourself.
There is another side to getting a facelift, that these contrasting photos do not speak of.
That is the amount of time it takes for the final results to become apparent.
Some people feel disappointed at the results, although they have not yet reached the peak of the appearance-change curve.
After that point the skin begins to sag once more.
After several years, the work would be undone.
This, however, should not dissuade you from having the surgery.
By keeping to a healthy lifestyle, you can prolong the period for which the results would last.
Also, a second procedure often costs less than the first one.
Remember to consult your surgeon regarding the expected period of time for which the results of your facelift procedure should last, so that you know what to expect, and there are no surprises.
Getting all the information is crucial for satisfaction with the end result.
