Noted Poet Nawab Mirza Khan commonly known as Daag Dehlavi belonged to Delhi and wrote poems and ghazals under the takhallus. He lost his father at the age of six and was brought up by his stepfather, Mirza Muhammad Fakhroo, who was heir to Bahadur Shah Zafar, the last Mughal Emperor. Afyter his father death Daagh left Delhi for Rampur where he went into government service and lived comfortably for 24 years. He died in 1905 at the age of 74 in Hyderabad, India. Urdu is one of the oldest and richest languages of Indian-subcontinent. It's an important part of the culture of India and Pakistan. There have been several poets but I like Jigar most as he was full of zeal and was known for his romanticism. He recited poems so beautifully that people wanted to listen to him again and again. He has written so many books on poetry and most of them have been liked by the people. Jigar died in 1958 at Lucknow. He had won the Sahitya Akademi Award in Urdu for his poetry collection aatish-e-gul.
