Soaking Castor Beans
- 1). Place the castor beans in a small bowl and cover with warm water. You will want to start the process at least six weeks before the last expected frost.
- 2). Soak the castor beans for 12 to 24 hours. The castor bean will swell to more than twice its size, boosting germination time.
- 3). Strain the water from the castor beans. Lightly squeeze the outer shell of the castor bean to rid any excess water. This will prepare the bean for proper planting.
