Infertility is a very unfortunate phenomenon that is happening to more and more people as time goes by.
There are a variety of reasons why such a thing could happen but sometimes even the experts cannot figure out why it is happening.
There are numerous theories on how to treat or even counteract infertility.
One of them is through acupuncture.
What is acupuncture? Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese method that is used for the treating and preventing of disease.
It is an alternative form of treatment that deals with the insertion of really thin and sterile needles into specific pressure points on the body which are located in pathways going through the exterior and interior of the body.
These points, when needled, can normalize the way in which the body functions.
This method has been practiced constantly for the past five thousand years in the Orient by around one quarter of the world's population as their primary form of health care.
With this in mind, how are acupuncture and infertility related? Acupuncture and infertility used together is probably the most popular and commonly recognized alternative treatment for couples who are trying to conceive.
According to several scientific studies, Acupuncture addresses problems that affect fertility such as under-functioning or over-functioning of the glands that produce hormones and types of fertility disorders that deal with the fallopian tubes.
Acupuncture is often mixed with different herbs for repeated pregnancy loss, to treat elevated follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), unexplained infertility, luteal phase defect, hyperprolactinemia, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) with annovulatory cycles, and even used for men affected with sperm-DNA-fragmentation.
Acupuncture and infertility go hand in hand since acupuncture fortifies the immune system and the overall health of the body, increases blood flow to the uterus and ovaries by lowering pathway retardation, regulates and stabilizes hormone levels and thickens the endometrial lining.
It also helps reduce the chance of miscarriage.
With this in mind, the next question is what are the disadvantages of acupuncture? There are actually minimal risks in acupuncture as a fertility treatment.
A danger of miscarriage may develop if the wrong acupuncture points are used when a woman is pregnant.
This is one reason why those wishing to embrace acupuncture in their treatment regimen should only be treated by an acupuncturist who specializes in treating fertility disorders.
Acupuncture is not contraindicated for anyone regardless of their pathology or the medications they are taking or have taken before.
No matter what the state of infertility is one would want to explore all the methods to counteract it.
Acupuncture and infertility issues have been settling more and more conflicts through the years and have basically no unwanted effects with proper use.
Therefore if you wish to use the method to treat your infertility, then there is really no harm in doing so and you might just solve your infertility issue immensely.
