Saving Tips for Summer
Doing the laundry, for example, can be a money-saving chore. Instead of relying solely on an energy-consuming machine such as a clothes dryer, hang your laundry outside instead. You don't need to be a genius to figure out how efficient the hot sun and the warm summer breeze can be when it comes to drying clothes.
Outside cooking
Summer is also a great season for cooking outside. Cooking indoors is just fine, but in the summer, frequent use of the oven in your kitchen only makes the climate inside the house so much warmer because of the excess heat. To stay cool while cooking, grill your food instead. It will save a lot in fuel and air conditioning costs.
Speaking of air conditioning, a great moneysaving idea would be to replace your air conditioning filters. A lot of people overlook the fact that dirty filters can up your cooling costs because they restrict airflow. Restricted airflow often results in reduced efficiency of the A/C unit, and reduced efficiency means that unit will have to work harder and therefore use more energy, especially during the warm summer months. Replacing those filters on a regular basis is very much advisable because they are cheap.
Save on Summer Sales
When you feel warm and you think you need a drink, it would be better if you go for water instead of soda or any sweetened drink. Water is so much cheaper and healthier. Sweetened beverages, on the other hand, tend to make you feel even thirstier.
A lot of stores and shops hold sales during the summer. That would be the perfect time to buy new stuff at much cheaper prices. Consequently, summer would also be a great time to clean out your closet and make some money. With all your extra clothes and other stuff that you no longer use, you can hold a yard sale and squeeze some cash out of those sneakers that you've outgrown or that toy robot your kids no longer play with.
Cheaper vacation plans
If you have certain projects or renovations done for your home, summer would be the best time to do it. The summer heat makes any construction work with cement dry faster. The lower chances of rain also means there wouldn't be any water damage inflicted on your ongoing projects. That alone could save you a lot of money.
For many, summer means going on vacation. However, instead of taking your entire family to another country for that, why not rough it up and go for the great outdoors? Instead of spending thousands of dollars on an overseas trip, go camping with your loved ones and spend a fraction of that amount. It will still be a fun and unique experience that your family will remember for a long time.
