What You Need To Know About Hair And Scalp Care

It is a pretty safe bet that at some point during your average day you will come across an advertisement trying to persuade you of the benefits of a particular brand of painkiller or lotion, or even a life enhancing exercise routine. The healthcare industry is one of the biggest global industries and one that will only ever increase as the global population increases. Although there are many businesses out there to be wary of, and even though the type of commercials that these companies use pray on our on personal view of mortality and extract money from us based on our constant strive for a better life, they do have a point; we should all be taking more care of ourselves. One of the more common and easiest areas to control is hair care.

Not only does having a healthy scalp and hair look and feel great, it also shows other people that you like taking care of yourself. Another benefit is almost a sub-conscious one; when you have a clean, attractive appearance to others, it gives you self-confidence. Self-confidence has a huge knock on effect not only in your own demeanor, but also in the way other people see and speak to you.

If you have frizzy, brittle, unruly or messy hair, then it is likely that your hair is unhealthy, but do not worry! You are certainly not the only person to be experiencing it. Sometimes, people like to try a variety of different products to try to find a solution to their hair problems; other people even have a set regime for applying a number of different products everyday. This is ill-advised, the answer to a healthy, good looking head of head is the simple rule less is more.

This less is more rule actually should be taken quite seriously. Some people believe that you should wash your hair everyday to remove dirt, oil and bad smells that have built up over the course of the day. On the contrary, this is bad advice as your hair actually produces oil to help to maintain itself and washing it everyday washes away the sebum, leaving a dry and damage prone head of hair. A good rule of thumb is one wash every few days, two at the minimum.

Although it may sound like a myth, another way to improve your hairs health is by brushing. Brushing your hair helps to distribute the sebum across the full length of your hair, effectively lubricating it. Also, if your hair is particularly dry then it may help to partake in a full 20 minute deep conditioning routine to help strengthen and soften your hair.
