Body Detoxification

    Toxins

    • Prevention is better than any cure. Those who want a healthier body should eliminate toxins. These toxins include alcohol, cigarettes, preservatives, pesticides, drugs and other chemicals. Using all-natural products and consuming organic food can reduce the amount of toxins in the body.

    Stress

    • Stress releases hormones that are helpful for the body during intense or pressure-cooker situations, but can also interfere with detoxification in the liver. Stress can be combated by taking on a lighter workload, engaging in relaxation exercises such as deep breathing and meditation, exercising and laughing. Those under heavy stress must realize their limitations and also understand that suffering adverse effects as a result of stress will hold them back more than missing a day at work.

    Dry Skin Brushing

    • Dry skin brushing involves using a specialized brush that removes dry and dead skin. Toxins are often released from the body through pores, and dry skin brushing can help aid the body in releasing these toxins.

    Hydrotherapy

    • Hydrotherapy involves cleansing the colon using a machine. Specialists send streams of water up into the colon to remove mucoid plaque. However, be sure to get a doctor's opinion before pursuing this treatment.

    Water and Juice

    • Water and juice fasts involve only drinking water or juice for one to three days. This gives the body a chance to remove toxins and recover. However, these fasts must be performed carefully because malnutrition and digestive problems can result if the faster does not drink nutrient-rich juices.

    Fiber

    • Fiber absorbs water, then drags this water downward into the digestive system. This water is able to clean out the digestive system more thoroughly.

    Sweating

    • Toxins are found in sweat. Saunas and exercise can help the body release toxins all over the body.

    Raw Food

    • Raw fruits and vegetables are more easily digested than meats and dairy products. Toxins found in food are more easily passed through the digestive system. Raw food nutritionists often recommend that only 20 percent of an individual's diet should come from cooked food. Food that isn't cooked can still be warmed.
