Designer's Art of Fashion and Right to Copyright
Let us talk about ordinary people wearing ordinary blouses, pants, shirts, and skirts and all other accessories that in one way or another relate to fashion. Did you know that everything we wear is inspired or patterned after a known designer's creation? These copies or imitations are mass-produced and occupy bazaars, boutiques and department stores that exclusively sell fashion and novelty wear and accessories for every one of us ordinary folks. This may be under a marketing agreement contract with a known name brand or pirated by unscrupulous businessmen in violation to fashion design copyright. Until today, laws against counterfeit goods do not satisfy the artist's concept of a copyright or patent. Until the issue is resolved and laws that truly protect artist's rights are enacted, people can enjoy the freedom of wearing fashionable apparel that may anyhow be in violation of designer's exclusive proprietary rights to creation design attributes.
Artists and designers deserve copyright and proprietary rights protection. They may not be working their bodies and brains to exhaustion as they create and design apparel. But focusing on an artistic design that is both aesthetically appealing and practical requires significant amounts of artistic juices that can drain even seasoned stylists. After all, not everybody can be as creative as a designer. People become intangibly content and exultant with the products designers create.
Nevertheless, the world of fashion continues to revolve with and without the appropriate copyright designers long to have enacted. The artist in them never stops creating for celebrities and ordinary folks alike. It is not so much for the money that designers get out of their creations but more for its appreciation by people in and outside the industry. It is the businessman's role to convert the fashion designs to money. Good marketing programs and schemes bring in sales and profits that benefit both the businessman and the designer. Both become happy as the creation reaches many parts of the world. As the businessman's desire and purpose are of sales and profits, the designer is ecstatic that his or her fame has become worldwide. That is real appreciation for creativity and imagination, the art and heart of fashion.
