How to Spray Pecan Trees in Tennessee
- 1). Begin near the trunk and spray the branches out to the tips. Start at one side and work your way around the tree. When the inner part of the tree has been sprayed, move to the outer part to spray the foliage.
- 2). Spray the pecan tree's foliage with zinc sulfate when the buds break, which usually is in early April in Tennessee. Use the ladder to reach the top of medium-size trees and a hose-end sprayer for large trees. Spray in even, full sweeps until all of the foliage is covered with the product, but not dripping. Repeat the spray every three weeks until August.
- 3). Control boring insects by spraying the pecan tree's trunk and lower branches with lindane in late April and again in mid-July. Spray at the rate suggested on the package for the size of your tree.
