There are many ways you can go about finding jobs in roofing either with a large contractor or for your own small roofing business. Previous work experience will go a long way when looking for work of any kind. If you are new to the roofing industry and do not have any relevant experience then you may find it difficult to secure jobs with roofing companies or new business contracts for yourself. If this is the case then you should strongly consider undertaking training which is specific to roofing work so that you can gain a qualification detailing your specific skills. Many colleges and construction training centers located all over the country will be able to provide courses of these kind. You should seek advice from training providers and make sure that any qualifications you complete are relevant to the class of work you will be trying to secure in the future. They should be more than happy to discuss your options with you. On the job training is another option that can be completed with a large roofing company as an apprentice programme. Here you will be paid a small wage while working alongside an experienced roofer so that you can develop your own skills under their supervision. If you perform well and complete programme then you will usually be offered a position as an employee within the company.

If you have experience from roofing work you have completed in the past then you will find it much easier to secure work. References from previous customers or employers will be a great help when looking for employment within a company and also when trying to find new business leads for your own roofing firm. If you are working for your self you will ultimately want to build a good reputation so that word of mouth from satisfied customers generates new business leads for you. You will obviously have to complete various projects before you can get to this level so in the mean time you will need to take a more direct approach when trying to find new customers. Advertising in newspapers and on local radio stations will prove to be effective and worthwhile activities. You can also have business cards designed and printed which can be posted through letter boxes and handed out at local trade shows. Once your name is out in the local community and is associated with quality service and workmanship then you should have no problem obtaining contracts for new roofing jobs.
