7 Places to Start with Book Marketing

When your book is published and you are ready for the orders to start pouring in, don't just sit there and wait for the emails, mail, and phone calls to begin.
You need to actively market your book.
The problem is that most people do not know where to begin.
First and foremost, marketing should be planned long before the book is written.
You need to have a defined audience ahead of the game.
If you do not have an audience for your book, then all the marketing in the world will not help you.
Here are 7 places that are good places to start with your book marketing:
  1. Locate stores that sell products related to your book and get them to stock your book.
  2. Locate online bookstores that are not main stream but do have a Google page rank of 4 or higher and become one of their book providers.
  3. Make a list of all the trade shows in your subject area and find a vendor that will be displaying at a show.
Approach them about sharing some booth space to sell your book.
  4. Offer your first chapter free for download on your site and other sites but drive them back to your book page for purchase of the whole book.
  5. Write articles (of several lengths) and post them on article marketing sites.
  6. Plan a blitz for your friends, acquaintances, associates, and all of their friends to buy your book from Amazon or Barnes & Nobel - this will push your book title up in the rankings.
  7. Plan a link exchange campaign with other experts in your field - you will be surprised at how many people want link backs, especially when they have read your book.
It does matter how many of these sources you use - just use them.
