These days the treadmill is becoming more popular than outdoor running, but why is this? What is so fantastic about running at home? And why not just go to the gym? Well first of all the running at home is a fantastic time saver, for people with a family or the busy business person.
Owning a treadmill saves you time traveling too and from the gym in fact you could say that the gym is brought home to you.
The next great reason for running at home is that there are no monthly or annual gym memberships to worry about.
You may spend a little more on the initial purchase of a quality treadmill however it will pay for its self many times over, and considering that the average treadmill has a ten year life span you could potentially save yourself a great deal of money in the long run.
The treadmill also works for the whole family.
Running at home only requires that you have the ability to walk to use it however as with all gym equipment there should be restrictions on the age of the treadmill user.
The weather plays a huge factor in many peoples motivation to get running.
Though the die hard runners amongst you will get out and run no matter what the weather conditions, for everyone else the weather will not dictate your conviction to get or remain fit and healthy, and in those summer days you can even put the treadmill outside to enjoy those finer sunny days.

Whilst on the subject of safety, if you are a jogger, runner, or walker the treadmill is much easier on your joints than running on tarmac or even grass.
