    • 1). Insert the Mac OS X Install DVD into your Mac's DVD drive. The disc should automatically open a new Finder window. If it does not, double-click the DVD icon on the desktop (or within Finder's sidebar).

    • 2). Double-click "Optional Installs" installer on the DVD.

    • 3). Follow the on-screen instructions displayed within the installer window. Select your Macintosh HD as the installation destination.

    • 4). Unfold the "Applications" menu when presented with the menu to select which optional applications and files you'd like to restore. Place a check mark in the "Mail" box. Click "OK."

    • 5). Click "Install" to reinstall Apple Mail to your Macintosh computer. Once complete, the application will be located in your "Applications" folder.
