Layered Hot Chocolate Mix in a Jar
- 1). Mix the powdered milk, sugar and cocoa powder in a bowl. Add salt and stir.
- 2). Place a funnel into the mouth of a pint-sized jar. Pour a 2-inch layer of cocoa mix into the jar. Tap the side of the jar to level the layer.
- 3). Place a ½-inch layer of miniature marshmallows on top of the cocoa layer. Top the marshmallows with a ½-inch layer of chocolate chips or crushed peppermint candies.
- 4). Repeat the layers. Fill the jar to within a quarter inch of the jar's rim.
- 5). Screw the lid onto the jar. Place a square of fabric over the lid and tie it on with a ribbon. Attach a label to the front of the jar with the preparation instructions. To prepare cocoa, combine 1 to 2 tbsp. of mix with 8 oz. of boiling water.
