Common Side Effects

• Some of side effects associated with using Perio Med include an upset stomach, headache and general weakness in the body. While these are considered the most common side effects associated with using the drug, they are very rare and only affect a small number of users. If symptoms become unbearable, contact your physician for an adjusted treatment method.
  
  

Severe Side Effects

• Unfortunately, there are also a few severe side effects that have been reported by some users of the drug. Some of these side effects include discoloration of the teeth, weakened tooth enamel and various changes in the appearance of the teeth. These side effects are also considered very rare and are not commonly reported by many users.
  
  

Important Safety Information

• Topical fluorides like Perio Med should not be used if the level of fluoride topical in the drinking water is any higher than 0.7 parts per million. Before using this medication, tell your doctor if you are on a low salt or salt-free diet. Be sure not to eat, drink or rinse out your mouth in any way for 30 minutes following fluoride use. Overdose of the medication can result if you swallow the solution while using the drug, so please make a conscious effort to keep all solution in your mouth during use.
  
  

Usage

• Use this medication directly as indicated on the label given to you by your doctor. The medication is administered by placing the substance into your mouth and swishing the liquid around without swallowing. After approximately 30 seconds, simply spit out the solution and allow the medication to apply itself. The fluoride should be used immediately after brushing and flossing your teeth.

  If you swallow a large amount of fluoride during use, contact your local poison center immediately or head directly to the emergency room.
  
  Perio Med is used in the strengthening of tooth enamel only and should never be used for any other medical condition.
