How to Send Your Divorce Decree to Credit Bureaus

1). Visit the website of each credit bureau (see Resources) to obtain their current mailing addresses. The three major credit bureaus are Experian, Equifax and TransUnion.
2). Make a legible copy of your divorce decree. Do not send in the original. Ensure that your name and the date of the divorce are clearly visible.
3). Mail the divorce decree by certified mail, return receipt requested, to the credit bureaus. This gives you proof that the bureaus received it.
4). Save your certified mail receipt. This contains a tracking number. You can check the delivery status of the letter at the USPS website (see Resources). You can also track the letter by calling USPS. Look for the phone number on your receipt.
