Patience, patience ....it will all pay off in the end

I am continually amazed by how many women are confused and surprised by what living with their breast implants entails.  They are worried and afraid during their recovery instead of prepared and excited.  We have always known that if patients know what we know about recovery and living with implants BEFORE surgery, then going through the process is a whole lot easier!  The Best Breast 2 has 2 chapters on recovery and a ton of information about living with your new breasts long-term.  It does pay to be educated and prepared before your procedure - sure makes the whole process more enjoyable!!

Question ~

Hi Terry- It's me again--thanks for the input on implantinfo.  I know without seeing me its probably hard for you to give me a definitive answer. But the nurses and the PS won't even tell if things will get ALOT better.  I'm 3wks post-op mentor/saline/unders  left255cc's--right300cc's. They are still hard and painful!! The PS told me to massage them alot and Im trying to but it hurts. I asked him if they will get softer and he said alittle! That's not the answer I wanted. If they only get ALITTLE softer--Im going to be  miserable!!!  I know I need to be patient.  Can you give me any insight as to when I will be happy with my breast implants because as of right now I WISH I NEVER DID IT!!! Thank you Terry.

Answer ~

I am so sorry you are feeling like this but you are right…. You have to give it time!  I always tell patients that they will be too high, tight, swollen and too big for the first 4 - 6 weeks - you are only 3 weeks out.  Now, the smaller and tighter the envelope to begin with, then the tighter and longer it takes to soften and settle.  They don't feel like they are part of you for months - but they will - eventually, you will forget that you had it done and just love your breasts because - - they will be part of you.

It will be ok - you just should have been prepared better for this time period - if you had known, then you probably wouldn't be panicked right now.

Its going to be good - think about the first time you put on a bathing suit this summer!!  It will all be worth it!!  Keep me posted on your progress (cause I know its gonna happen!!).
