Bleaching and Coloring Hair Extensions

Perfect hair type for dyeing are the virgin remy human hair extensions.
This hair is not chemically processed before they are sold and retain all of the outer protective layer of the hair known as the cuticle layer.
This makes them ideal for dyeing.
Coloring of virgin human hair extensions is much similar to processing for natural human hair and care must be taken to protect them from harmful chemicals.
Most other types of hair, even remy hair, are not good for coloring because they tend to become really weak due to treatment by chemicals and coloring them will permanently damage your hair.
Strand Testing must be done for the safety of the hair extension.
This test determines if the dyeing process can be handled by the strands of the hair weaves.
The dye should be prepared as per directions and then applied over a small portion of the hair extensions first.
Let the test strands sit for a few minutes and then see if there has been any breakage to the hair.
Lightening is more difficult and prone to damage than the process of darkening.
Lightening might require processing with bleaching agents which can really damage the hair.
As an alternative to bleaching, you can directly dye the darker hair to the color you desire, but this usually leaves behind a tint of darkness.
The hair ends up with shades of copper like color.
However, reapplying the dye over and over again will remove the tint and bring you to the lighter color that you had desired.
Usually you need three colorings to get the perfect match.
Colorings will have to be done in intervals of a couple of days.
If you can't skip bleaching, you could use a stripper or eraser before bleaching.
In general, for dark brown, applying eraser two or more times reduces it to brown.
Allow some time between processing with stripper and bleach so you don't damage the hair too much.
Get a bleach of your choice and prepare the solution following instructions on the case, and then soak the hair in it.
Allow it to soak for sometime before washing away the bleach.
Always remember that bleaching can severely damage the hair extensions and you probably will have to apply bleach a couple of times when lightening human hair extensions.
Kindly follow the instructions carefully and pay close attention to any warnings.
You can also try a lightening shampoo to aid in the removal of any left over tint after dyeing.
In order for the hair to recover from bleaching, condition the hair extensions regularly.
Serum can be used as well to stop the hair from breaking off.
