Pick the portion of the wall that you like the best. Take a picture of it or find another way to document it so you can compare it to the problem areas and keep it with you as you make touch-ups.

Evaluate the area of the wall that you feel is messed up. If the area is too thin with the layer of sponge paint, carefully apply more paint to the area. Make sure to apply gently and lightly with a damp sponge dipped in the paint to avoid getting it too thick. Step back and evaluate your work. Keep adding paint gradually to the problem spot until it looks even with the rest of the walls.

If the area is too thick with the sponge layer, determine how much of the wall you are dissatisfied with. Fix small areas by taking a new, damp sponge and dipping it in the base color and applying it to the problem spot.

Start over from the beginning for portions of the wall that are too much to even out with a simple base color sponge application. Begin by laying down the base layer again and letting it completely dry. Wet a sponge with water and ring all excess water out. Dip the sponge into the second layer of paint. Apply to the wall in a pattern that is consistent with the work already completed in the rest of the room.
