How Many Seeds Should Be Planted in Jiffy Peat Pots?
- Plant a single seed in each pot. Once the seed has sprouted and starts to get taller, transplant the entire peat pot into a larger peat pot or directly into the ground if weather conditions are right for that type of plant.
- Plant two to three seeds in each Jiffy peat pot. When the seedlings are starting to grow, select the strongest and discard the rest. If all the seedlings look healthy, gently transplant them into other peat pots or directly into the ground.
- Using the single-seed approach with Jiffy peat pots means that if the lone seedling fails to develop for any reason, you will have to start over with new seed and fresh soil. Using the multi-seed approach improves your odds of saving at least one seedling per pot should the others fail to germinate or appear sickly.
