A person could also be shaking, sweating, feeling nausea, not being able to breathe and even experiencing diarrhea. The most common treatments for this disorder is going to be prescription drugs and therapy. They both can be very expensive and drugs cause some nasty side effects. One of the things that has really helped me in social situations was visualizing the worst case scenario of what could happen and then realizing that I could live with it.
For example making U Tube videos is fairly scary. The worst case scenario for me would be some really nasty comments, which has already happened. I can easily live with these comments because I realize that a person has to be having some real problems in their life to be so hateful, so they are the one with the problem not me.
Another idea that I would highly recommend would be NLP or Neural Lingistic Programming. NLP is a way someone can challenge and overcome negative beliefs such as social anxiety.
