That's actually a good question to start with. The connection between mental health and fish oil has long been the subject of argument between doctors, scientists and experts. But recent studies showed that omega-3 has something to do with the development of neurological problems among individuals who are subjected to various stresses because of work and other factors.

Of course, there are numerous types of diet which can increase the level of serotonin but the most outstanding is the use of omega 3 fish oil as a supplement because it is made entirely of fatty acid that's good for the brain.

By including fish oil in your diet 2 to 3 times in a week (900 mcg) you can increase the production of serotonin in your system and brain. The significant increase of serotonin through your consumption of fish oil is indeed vital in fighting the symptoms of depression and also anxiety. And when serotonin levels are high, emotional disorders like those in anxiety can be significantly reduced even without the use of anti-anxiety drugs.

Although the exact physiology of omega-3 in anxiety is still unknown, evidences that it really does help reduce symptoms of this emotional disorder is widely known.
