Although Costa Brava is a symbol for crowded and noisy destination for tourists from northern and Western Europe, today you can still find many places that are not occupied by mass tourism like Cadaques, Roses, Tamariu and Calella de Palafrugell.

If you choose to visit, it is always better to stay in villas in Costa Brava since they provide you with more comfortable and peaceful vacation with the freedom to do with your time whatever you please. In addition to the small fishing villages and countless beaches and coves, this area is an excellent base for exploring the province of Catalonia; especially cities such as Barcelona,âEURWhen trying to decide where to stay in Costa Brava these are the places you might consider:

Blanes has several large tourist complexes, but it is much quieter and smaller than the better known Lloret de Mar. Tourists are mainly older couples and families with children, so it might not be the choice for those who want to enjoy uninterrupted night life. The beach is 4 kilometres long with small and pleasant bays and more than enough needed facilities.

Lloret de Mar is the most popular tourist destination on the Costa Brava. It is known to attract younger tourists, mostly from 18 to 30 years, so a great night life is guaranteed. It is located near Barcelona so you could easily organize a trip to the city. Its beach is the most popular in Costa Brava because of its white sand.

Tossa de Mar is a medieval walled city dating back to the 12th century. The main entrance to the old town is the clock tower, and within the walls is a maze of narrow streets. Tossa de Mar was the first place on the Costa Brava which attracted foreigners. It was an artist colony concentrated around Mark Shagal during 1930.

Calella de Palafrungell is a place primarily intended for those seeking peace and quiet during the summer. Around the town there are 5-6 pleasant beaches that are not crowded.

Tamarii is a small tourist place surrounded by cliffs and pine trees. The water is crystal clear and the caves that intersect the bay make it an interesting place for divers.

Roses is the biggest tourist resort in the northern part of the Costa Brava. It attracts tourists with its sandy beaches that stretch along the bay while access to the site is spectacular as it meanders down the steep cliffs.

Cadaques is a miniature town with only 1800 residents. The main attraction of it is Dali's house now turned into a museum. It is a 15 minute walk from the centre of Cadaques. The town is very picturesque with houses of white walls and the rocky cliffs rising above it.
