How to Send a Thank You for Receiving Wedding Gifts Before the Wedding
- 1). Keep a list of guests and their addresses and record presents that you receive from each guest. Gifts that are received before the wedding should be acknowledged with a thank-you note within two weeks.
- 2). Write your thank-you note. Keep the primary focus on the gift's sender and not on yourself. If you received cash, indicate what you intend to use the money on, such as buying a house or a car. If you did not like the gift that you received, never say so in your thank-you note. Instead of focusing on the item, focus on your relationship with the sender in your letter. Thank senders for the time and effort they placed into selecting a gift for you.
- 3). Conclude thank-you notes with emphasis on how you look forward to seeing the sender at the wedding ceremony. Mail your thank-you notes. If gifts are received a week or less before the wedding, you do not need to send your thank-you note within two weeks. Guests expect that you will be busy with final preparations and your honeymoon. Send thank-you notes for those items, and all other items received during the wedding, within two months.
