- 1). Level up your Grass and Water Pokemon to a stage that is equal to or greater than Dialga's experience level. A Pokemon's stats improve with each level increase; and if your creatures are within five levels of Dialga's experience level, they will stand a greater chance in battle.
- 2). Use Fighting and Ground-type moves on Dialga. These two elemental types are the only moves that injure Dialga for twice the damage. Water and Grass Pokemon can learn overlapping techniques from Fighting and Ground Pokemon. Examples of techniques that would heavily damage a Dialga include the Fighting and Grass-type Breloom's "Sky Uppercut" attack, and Water and Ground-type Whiscash's "MudBomb" move.
- 3). Attack Dialga with techniques that negatively affect the blue beast's status. Some common Water and Grass-based moves severely limit Dialga's ability to fight back such as "Sleep Powder," "Stun Spore" and "Soak." "Soak" is a potentially devastating attack when used on Dialga because it changes it to the Water-type Pokemon and makes it vulnerable to savage Grass-type attacks. "Sleep Powder" and "Stun Spore" can stop Dialga in its tracks, giving your Water and Grass Pokemon more time to hammer it with damaging abilities.
