Acne is one of the most common skin complaints across the world.
Millions of people suffer or have suffered from acne - which has led to all sorts of weird and wonderful remedies being tried in an effort to get rid of the spots.
Whilst it is safe to say we can skip over some of the more wacky or disgusting, I'm sure no one wants to put horse manure on their face for example, there are some remedies that have been tried and tested to work.
It is these remedies for acne that are of interest to us.
Remedies that actually work at getting rid of blackheads and other unsightly spots.
Remedies for Acne o Cotton wool and rubbing alcohol.
This works very well as the cotton wool allows the alcohol to get right into the pores of the skin, and absorbs the oils in there causing the spots.
The alcohol breaks down the oils, helping to remove them more easily.
If you want a more natural acne remedy lime juice or lemon juice have proven to work just as well.
o Toothpaste.
Toothpaste will automatically dry out the skin area, absorbing the oils and so removing them from the pores where they are causing the spots.
Applying toothpaste to the spotted area of skin and leaving either over night or for a couple of hours will help get rid of spots fast.
o Tea tree oil.
Tea tree oil is very powerful as a method of killing acne, literally.
The tea tree oil acts as a antimicrobial - meaning that it kills of certain diseases, including the Propioni, which is a bacteria that causes inflamed break outs of acne.
This has made it almost as powerful as the most powerful of man made drugs - Benzyol Peroxide - but without the horrible side effects of dry and flaky skin and painful chapping.
Always be sure to dilute tea tree oil before applying to the skin (most tests were carried out using a 5% solution).
o Witch Hazel.
Another popular natural acne remedy, this spot treatment has been used for centuries, with some impressive results.
Especially powerful when mixed with tea tree oil (as above) or with crushed mint.
Either include it as part of a washing solution or as part of a face mask to leave on the face for 20 minutes before washing off with warm water.
These remedies for acne will help you to clear your skin without spending a fortune.
