How to Store Ground Flax Seed
- 1). Grind whole flax seeds to a fine consistency in a spice grinder or coffee mill. Skip this step if you purchased pre-ground flax seeds.
- 2). Transfer ground flax seeds from their original container or the grinder to a zip top bag.
- 3). Push the excess air out of the zip top bag and seal. This creates a second barrier against air contacting the seeds.
- 4). Place the bag into an airtight opaque jar.
- 5). Attach a stick-on label to the front of the jar. Write "Ground flax seeds: expires 90 days from current date."
- 6). Seal the jar and store it in the freezer or refrigerator for up to 90 days.
