Crane Toilet Bowl Installation Instructions
- Flush the toilet after turning off the water supply. Use a sponge and bucket to remove any remaining water before disconnecting the water supply lines, then remove the mounting bolts and lift the toilet from its position. Scrape away any residual wax from the floor seal and temporarily plug the waste line to prevent sewer gases from entering the room.
- Warm the wax ring by placing it in a sink of warm water for a few minutes prior to placing it on the toilet. Turn the toilet upside down and place the warmed wax ring in the recess at the base of the toilet bowl. This wax ring serves as a sealant between the toilet and the waste water pipe when the toilet is installed.
Slide new toilet bolts into the slots in the flange at the top of the waste water pipe. This flange is usually flush with the floor of the bathroom. The toilet bolts pass through the base of the toilet and are tightened with the supplied nuts. - Remove the plug from the drain before turning the toilet right side up and placing it over the floor drain. Press the bowl into position before tightening the toilet bolts. Check the level of the toilet and use shims or wedges to level the bowl if necessary.
Some Crane toilets are one piece, while others are made up of a bowl and tank. If working with a two-piece toilet, place the rubber gasket on the threaded outlet of the toilet tank. Set the tank on the toilet bowl and align the holes. Place rubber washers on the bolts that connect the toilet tank to the toilet bowl. Place the bolts through the bottom of the tank and the toilet base and attach the nuts that came with the bolts or the toilet. Tighten the bolts until the toilet tank is in contact with the toilet base. Do not overtighten the bolts to avoid breaking the ceramic of the toilet.
Connect the water supply line to the toilet tank. Connect the interior plastic water supply tube to the supplied water inlet regulator. Make sure all connections in the water supply lines are watertight and don't leak. Adjust the level of water in the toilet tank by adjusting the valve at the top of the inlet regulator.
Connect the tubing at the top of the water inlet regulator to the overflow tube.
Install the toilet seat and lid and place the lid on the toilet tank.
Continue to monitor these connections for several days after installation to make sure leaks don't develop.
